19 January 2020Plainchant Workshop
Plainchant Workshop at St Mary's, Finedon on Saturday 25 April
Led by Dr Iain Simcock from Schola Gregoriana, this workshop will introduce us to a range of plainchant, concluding with music we have learnt in the workshop being sung as part of Compline.
Details to be confirmed, but it is likely to be a 2pm start, concluding with a service of Compline at 4.30pm (so ending by 5pm).
There is likely to be a suggested donation of £10 to help cover the costs of the workshop.

Come & Sing Allegri's Miserere and other pieces on Good Friday at St Mary's, Finedon
On Good Friday (Friday 10th April 2020), we will be holding a Service of Readings, Music and Contemplation at St Mary's, Finedon. Visiting singers are very welcome to join us for this.
Rehearsal begins at 12.30pm with the service at 2.00pm (lasting just over one hour).

Come & Sing Stainer's Crucifixion at St Mary's, Finedon
On Palm Sunday (Sunday 5th April 2020), we will be holding a Come & Sing Stainer's Crucifixion at St Mary's, Finedon. Visiting singers are very welcome to join us for this.
Rehearsal begins at 4.30pm with the 'performance' at 6.00pm (lasting about one hour).

Our musical offerings for the next few months can now be viewed on our Music Lists page. We have lots of great music to prepare and sing between now and Easter.
Do come and join us if you can, either to sing or to listen.
31 December 2019New Singers Welcome
Come and Sing with us at St Mary's Finedon
You will be very welcome to join the choir of St Mary's, Finedon either as a regular or occasional member of the choir.
Our weekly choir practice is on Fridays from 7pm to approx. 8pm in church. The adult choir and teenagers attend this practice. There is a separate Children's Choir which rehearses after school on Thursdays (details on request).
The choir sings an anthem each Sunday in the 9.30am service. We hold Choral Evensong at 6pm on the first Sunday of most months with a 5pm rehearsal beforehand. Checking our Music Lists page will give you a good idea of the sort of music we sing.
You are very welcome to come along any time to try us out! All voices parts welcome.

21 November 2019Come and Sing Messiah for free
Come And Sing Messiah (part one) with carols at St Mary's, Finedon
Come and join us at St Mary’s, Finedon on Saturday 21st December, 2.30pm rehearsal followed by a 4.30pm performance of Handel’s Messiah (part one) along with three traditional Christmas carols. We have excellent professional soloists coming: soprano - Lauren Hollis, alto - Joanna Arnold, tenor - James Hutchings, and bass - Benjamin Ellis, accompanied again this year by a string ensemble led by Michael Needle, with Ivan Linford on continuo. Jonathan Harris will be conducting.
There is no cost involved; donations at the door welcome. We expect to finish at 5.40pm.
If you would like to sing just let me know that you’ll be coming and remind me which voice part you sing! We are using the Prout edition of Messiah; if you have your own copy, please bring it along but, if not, we will have plenty of copies at church that you can borrow.
Dress code this year is a relaxed 'fairly smart'. The heating will be on!
