Our next big choir event is our annual Festal Evensong as part of the Flower Festival.

This will be held on Sunday 15th September (4.30pm rehearsal then 6.00pm evensong). Visiting singers are most welcome to join us for this occasion.

The music will be as follows:

Psalm 122 (Nicholson)

Office Hymn: 254 (Tune East Acklam) For the fruits of his creation

Canticles: Stanford in C

Anthem: Parry Blest Pair of Sirens

Final Hymn: 377 Angel-voices ever singing (descant C. Robinson)

Organ Voluntary: Toccata from Bach's Toccata, Adagio & Fugue in C BWV 564

01 May 2019New Singers Welcome

Regular and Occasional Singers required

Mainly due to a few of our regular singers moving away from the area, St Mary's, Finedon choir is in need of more regular and/or occasional singers. Sopranos are particularly needed but any voice part (SATB) would be appreciated.

Please do not feel you have to attend every service or rehearsal! Any help is better than nothing. Singing at some of our monthly evensongs or occasionally appearing in the choir on a Sunday morning is an option that we hope more singers can take up.

Friday choir practices take place in church (7pm until approx. 8.10pm). Come whenever you can. Sunday morning services start at 9.30am (these always include an anthem during communion and we use Thorne's Mass of St Thomas for our service music). Evensong usually takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 6pm, preceded by a choir practice at 5pm. Music at evensong includes traditional responses and canticles, a sung psalm and an anthem. For further details of the music see our music list page.

If you are interested in joining us, please come along to a service or a Friday evening choir practice any week, or contact our Director of Music, Jonathan Harris
